Root Canals

When decay or trauma reaches below the tooth enamel and into the tooth pulp chamber or nerve, a root canal may be required in an effort to save the natural tooth. The infected material will be removed from the tooth, sterilize and shape the inside of the tooth, and fill the cavity. An artisan same-day crown may then be used to restore the tooth to optimum form and function.

Same-Day Crowns

Your time is valuable! Why spend days getting crowns at the dentist when you can have the final result in one appointment? The skilled artisan team at Dental Health Concepts can deliver master craftsmen crowns within the same day! Best of all, these crowns are designed to look and feel like your original tooth because they are made with the most advanced technology available.

What about the cost? It might seem as though sending your impression to a third-party lab for your final product is less expensive. However, since your dental team will only spend time with you during one appointment and they do not have to pay a third party to produce the crown, the two options end up costing about the same. Learn more about both the same-day crown process and cost by booking your appointment with Dr. Hanigofksy or Dr. Powell at Dental Health Concepts by calling (828) 322-2133.

Ask Dr. Hanigosky or Dr. Powell if you are a candidate for same-day porcelain veneers at your next appointment.

Free Gingival Grafting

Dr. Powell is known for his ultra-slim grafting technique that blends your graft with your gum line and usually requires no stitches! Most people will experience some level of gum tissue recession in their lifetime due to periodontal disease, poor hygiene habits, clenching or grinding of the teeth, oral trauma, diabetes, stress, or smoking. Some are even born with a deficient amount of attached tissue. Once the tissue is too thin, there are some methods like free gingival grafting that can be used to prevent or stop damage effects from occurring around the affected tooth or dental implant.

AlloDerm® Grafting

If the root structure is exposed allowing room for decay, infection, tooth sensitivity, and cosmetic issues, Dr. Hanigofsky or Dr. Powell may perform the AlloDerm grafting technique to recover the root structure. This service is offered to those meeting certain medical criteria. If you have noticed any gum recession, sensitivity, or root exposure, be sure to ask Dr. Hanigosky or Dr. Powell about your grafting options.

Periodontal Surgeries

Nearly 50% of people have some level of periodontal disease. The number of cases dramatically increases to 70% for those over 65 years of age. Those patients with moderate to severe periodontal disease may have rough spots on their teeth where bacteria and plaque build-up can occur making cleaning the tooth challenging. Also, any resulting infection may cause an increase in gum recession with bad breath and eventual loss of the tooth.

Dr. Hanigofsky and Dr. Powell will smooth rough spots to allow for better cleaning resulting in healthier gum tissue. Flap surgery or pocket surgery may be needed for a pocket area that is not easily cleaned. In this procedure, the tissue will be repositioned to reduce the pocket. This gives the patient a better opportunity to properly clean the tooth and gum line and can restore the tissue to an improved state.

Heal Faster!

Dr. Hanigofsky and Dr. Powerll are always looking out for techniques and technology that helps improve his patients’ comfort, health, and well-being. That’s why a special machine and advanced techniques to assist with the healing process for certain procedures may be used to help patients heal faster. When you schedule your next dental service, ask if this process is an option for you.

Dentures

In the event of tooth loss, the team at Dental Health Concepts can skillfully and expertly craft you partial or full dentures. Unlike many dentures, the coloration, lines, and crevices will be modeled in great detail to ensure your dentures match the way your natural teeth look at optimum health. Furthermore, if you have implants, Dr. Powell will restore them.

Snoring Treatment

Are you keeping your spouse up at night with your snoring sounds of slumber? Imagine an easy-to-wear snoring appliance that improves your airflow. By controlling your airflow better, you can enjoy a more restful sleep you have been missing!

TMJ Disfunction or TMD Treatment

Many people have undiagnosed TMD that can give them such seemingly unrelated symptoms as headaches, pain behind the eyes, or in your neck, ears, back, or shoulders. In fact, there are a large number of symptoms associated with this common medical condition that can be treated with a properly fitted mouthpiece. This is not your everyday mouthguard you find in the sports section of retail stores. To treat TMD, you will need a custom device that prevents destructive movements. Check out this list of symptoms for TMD below and be sure to ask Dr. Hanigofsky and Dr. Powell what options are available to give you relief!

  • Jaw discomfort or soreness (often most common in the morning or late afternoon)
  • Headaches
  • Pain spreading behind the eyes, in the face, shoulder, neck, or back
  • Earaches or ringing in the ears (not caused by an infection of the inner ear canal)

  • Clenching or grinding of the teeth
  • Dizziness
